Cycling

The impressive natural scenery and the magnificently prepared route and road net incite the relaxed family tourist and the professional biker alike.
Our bike- and bicycle routes invite you to experience the distinctive mountain panorama of the Murau-Kreischberg region from the saddle. With that you have the choice between athletically demanding bike tours or regenerative fitness tours in combination with comfortable bicycle transportation, the MurValley Railway (train).
A spectacular interplay of different landscapes makes cycling in the Murau-Kreischberg region especially attractive, no matter what kind of biking you most enjoy. Cycling routes along the Mur or through gentle, rolling hills, shady forests and idyllic valleys.
Our signposting system is both consistent and easy to unterstand, providing not only an excellent service for all cycling fans but also setting a quality standard for your safety.

Hiking

Golf

Enjoy the breath-taking mountain scenery at the 18-hole golf course. The spacious course is ideal both for beginners and experienced players.The courses occupy a lightly wooded parkland setting, in rolling countryside on the foothills of the Kreischberg. Indoor swimming pool Murau
The indoor swimming pool in Murau offers with more than 2000 m² fun and relaxation for adults and children. The 25m basin is perfect for the training and the basin for children offers with the water slide an attraction. Enjoy sauna, solarium or massage after an adventurous day.

Fishing

Calm flowing water, the water storage area in Bodendorf and St.Georgen am Kreischberg and the pond Rottenmann are a paradise for fishers. The green Mur is perfect for relaxing fishing days.

Climbing

The climbing center (there is also a bouldering area with fall protection) - provides challenge and adventure to a maximum height of 13 m. Altogether, there are 35 routes with difficulty from 4B up to 7B.
Also routes for beginners are available (in altitudes from 0 to 13 meters).

Red-Bull ring, Spielberg, Austria

Located only 45 minutes from our Chalet, mecca for motorsports fans: the Spielberg with the legendary Red Bull Ring and the Formula 1 race.

The museums in the region Murau-Kreischberg record cultural history as well as the tough work with the raw material wood or the history about the delicious Murauer beer.

Brewery Museum

In an ancient and beautiful vaulted cellar in the Brewery of Murau there is one of the most various Brewery museums of Austria. - The exhibits and the intense scent of raw materials creates a graceful atmosphere that makes anyone a Murauer beer lover. In 1195 the Brewery of Murau celebrated its 500th anniversary.
Every visitor gets a voucher for a glass of beer or limonade, valid in the restaurants in the Region Murau-Kreischberg.

Museum of health and medical science

Located on the premises (house 2) of the Stolzalpe Regional Hospital, this museum is one of its kind in Europe. Showcasing interesting facts on medicine of the past and present, it also offers visitors the opportunity to try out some of the medical devices.Visits and guided tours by appointment.

Museum of the City Murau

This former abbey houses the various arranged City Museum. There the history of the city and of the region Murau-Kreischberg is shown very lovingly. Special exhibitions and vernissages enrich the museum's operation.

Diocesan Museum

The early Baroque Church of St. Elisabeth emerged from the Gothic chapel of the former Murauer community hospital that Otto III from Liechtenstein had built. Since 1979 there are the Evangelical Church of Murau and the Protestant Diocesan Museum of Styria located.
The museum shows in charts and historical exhibits the history of the Evangelical Church in Styria during the last 500 years. An integral part of each guide is also a visit to the Elisabeth Church.

Cable-car Kreischberg

The well-conceived access to the hiking area Kreischberg, with the cable-cars leaves nothing to be desired. You can get to the starting points easily and get back home from many places without a car.
Take a gondola ride up to the top of Kreischberg, hike across lovely alpine pastures above the tree line and relax in one of the huts or restaurants at the top of the mountain.
Operating times: Wednesday, Friday and Sunday in July and August from 9am to 4pm.
The tickets are valid the whole day long.

Steam Train  - "Murtalbahn"

An attraction for everybody. The steam train leaves wheezling and steaming from the train station Murau. Decide on your own if you would like to be just a normal guest who enjoys the view or if you would like to be the locomotive driver. In the fairy tale car are told stories about the "Murtalbahn" therefore, fun for children is guaranteed.


Holz-Europabrücke

In St. Georgen am Kreischberg, the Europabrücke, a cantilevered wooden bridge, crosses the river Mur. An architectural masterpiece of wood work, built out of 550 m² of Styrian larch wood and with a load capacity of 65 tons, the bridge is the largest wooden bridge in Europe accessible to heavy vehicles.
